What Are Quilters Blogging About Today?

Can you believe that it’s been almost a year since we gathered together as a creative community and quilted our way through those first few crazy weeks of a global pandemic?! In March 2020, I hosted a mystery quilt along – the Happy Scrappy QAL – where I encouraged you to dig into your scrap buckets and just play creatively for a little bit each day without stressing about planning the perfect quilt and buying extra supplies.

Way back in March 2020 (I know, it feels like a lifetime ago!), the world really, uh… “hit the fan” and shut down. Those of us with kids suddenly found ourselves supervising home learning, many of us were juggling working from home at the same time, and for some strange reason, everyone bought up on toilet paper. And in the midst of that unprecedented chaos, we found solace in our quilting.

Leftover scrap triangles are a common occurrence in when sewing quilt blocks. They are the result of making any quilt block unit that uses the easy corner triangle method, like flying geese, or more recently around here, the method used to make the Ribbon blocks.

So. This is quite the time going on, hey?! Never has this world felt so small than when we are globally dealing with the same crisis that is COVID-19. We are all dealing with the cancellation of big things in life – school, trips, birthday parties, concerts, etc. Life feels full of The Unknown, not quite sure what’s happening next and where our next roll of toilet paper will come from!
